This site only scratches the surface on the number of movie pages on the web. When I want to find out more about a movie or when I’m consulting the opinions of other critics, there are several sites that I return to again and again. Below you’ll find the other movie pages on the internet that I consider worth visiting. With each site, I’ve included a rating (on a five-star scale) and a short description to let you know what you will find at the different locations.

Please enjoy the variety of different web pages you find below. I’ve included studio homepages, archives of fellow critics, hot industry gossip and extremely specialized fan pages. If you have a movie-related web page that you would like added to this list, please e-mail me. If your suggestion matches the types of sites I consider useful, I’d be happy to include it. Happy surfing!

Ain’t It Cool News (Harry Knowles) ***
Nobody really knows how he manages to do it, but Harry Knowles always seems to be a few steps ahead of the Hollywood game. For the best gossip on upcoming movies, check out his Ain't it Cool News. The site is full of great info from anonymous sources who seem credible. His site also features movie reviews, though his style is annoying. He doesn't really talk much about the movie. Instead, he tells you about his day and reviews the trailers he sees before the films.
Chicago Sun-Times (Roger Ebert) ****
Here's a pretty thorough database of movie reviews by the man with the world's most famous thumb (I would guess that Siskel's thumb rates a close second). If you disagree with my movie reviews, then maybe you'll find a better opinion with Mr. Ebert ... or maybe not. The Ebert site is searchable, though tedious. The archived reviews go back decades. If you can't find a review on my site (I don't have the time to review every movie that comes out), check with the guru.
Internet Movie Database *****
If I had to pick one site on the internet as my favorite, this would be it. It's got just about every movie you could ever think of stored away in its vaults. Just try it out. You can find links, reviews, cast and crew info, and Kevin Bacon links! What more could you ask for? The IMDb offers an easy-to-use search engine. The site's look is pretty Spartan, but that means faster loading.
Mr. Showbiz *** 1/2
For the best movie coverage on the Net, the first place to turn is Mr. Showbiz, home to a wealth of reviews, articles and interviews on new movies and music. The site is always current, and it offers many entertainment-related diversions. The wide-ranging views of the various staff members sometimes make their reviews misleading (but everyone's entitled to his own opinion). The site is a great place to brush up on the latest in juicy Hollywood gossip (though it's mainly celebrity-oriented).
Reel Views (James Berardinelli) **** 1/2
"Film criticism is not surgery -- you don't need a degree to be an effective practitioner of it," says James Berardinelli, an "amateur" film critic who sees hundreds of films a year and manages to write an impressive number of in-depth reviews. His reviews are incisive and well-written without being pretentious. He tactfully remembers that each review reflects his personal opinion, and he never tries to cram his view down your throat. Berardinelli is clearly a man who loves films and his reviews are almost always right on target.
Screen It! Movie Reviews for Parents *** 1/2
Welcome to Spoiler City! This site serves a dual purpose: it warns parents about potentially offensive material in movies and gives young people the chance to see if movies really have all the dirty stuff they're expecting. Screen It! reviews are extremely detailed (someone actually counts curse-words, etc.) and they often give away plot elements. The problem with the site is its reviews. How can someone who is watching only for offensive material possibly reach an informed decision about the quality of the film? The reviewers seem to be extremely reluctant to give positive reviews to movies that might corrupt young minds. Nevertheless, the site is an excellent online movie resource.
